Black Orchid, Killer Instinct

Rareware created Killer Instinct for the Arcades to showcase the awesome potential that the forthcoming Nintendo "Ultra" 64" home console system would possess. The game was a pretty big hit in the arcades as it introduced 50-something hit combos and gorgeous graphics. The characters in the game were your general fighting game variety, including Black Orchid (B. Orchid), the token female participant in the game. Orchid, dressed in her all spandex suit, had more than a few gamers pumping quarters into the machine to find out all her special moves.

As the stealth assassin participating in the Ultratech tournament, Black Orchid has some pretty swift moves to her fighting style. One move has her performing a handstand helicopter spinning kick to her opponent's face, which you can see in some of the pictures below.

Lara Croft

One of the most famous video game babes, Lara Croft has been raiding through the tombs of gamers' consoles (and PC's) for almost 20 years now. First introduced in 1996 in the original Tomb Raider game, Lara was the brainchild of developer Toby Gard, who worked at UK development studio Core Design. Lara was designed to appeal to both male gamers (for obvious reasons) as well as female gamers, who had longed for a strong female lead in an action video game. Throughout her history, Lara has starred in nine main adventures, one anniversary remake, and several spin off games. Her most recent game (as at the time of this writing) was the 2013 reboot game Tomb Raider. A sequel game to the 2013 game is in development set to be titled Rise of the Tomb Raider.
